The Gospel Proclaimed by the Sacrifices Text: Leviticus 16 Readings: Heidelberg Catechism Q/A 19; Hebrews 9 This afternoon, we continue our mini-series through Question and Answer 19 of the Heidelberg Catechism. This afternoon we consider how God portrays the gospel through the sacrifices. My theme for our text, Leviticus 16, is: the Day of Atonement looks forward to the one atonement at the crucifixion in which God's people rest for all eternity. We see this under three headings: the pervasiveness of sin; the abundance of atonement; and the sacrifice to atone forever.
