Session 1: The Starting Line: Taking Hold of Jesus By Faith
Time:
Morning
Texts:
Hebrews 11:1–3, Hebrews 11:7–10
In the letter to the Hebrews we learn that the Christian faith is the race worth running. Every race has a starting point and so too with our faith. In this sermon, Rev. Daniel Ventura first describes how the way people look and interpret the world is their lens of faith, even if they claim to be not religious. This is important, Daniel says, because what we behold with the eyes effects what our heart desires. For the Christian, God's Word serves as the lens by which we see reality rightly. So we must know the truth from God's Word. Not only that, true faith is a conviction and a sure confidence that the knowledge about God is true and that it is true not only for others, but for me also. Faith is knowledge, conviction, and trust.
