Sermon on December 18, 2022
Forgiven to Forgive
Time: Evening
Texts: Matthew 6:9–15, Matthew 18:21–35, Heidelberg Catechism: Lord's Day 51
God’s people are a forgiven people, which makes them a forgiving people. That’s why Jesus teaches us in the Lord’s Prayer that we should regularly ask God for the forgiveness of our sins, as we remind ourselves to forgive others. If you are currently having a hard time forgiving someone for some wrong done to you, then what you need is to ask God to deepen your awareness of how much He has forgiven you in Christ. Because the more your heart knows God’s forgiveness, the more you will be able to wholeheartedly forgive others.
