In this sermon we realize that the doctrine of Total Depravity is does not mean that people are as bad as they could be. All people still retain the image of God and a glimmering of natural light remains in them. This should not be accredited to a basic goodness in humanity, but rather to the abundant goodness God restraining sin’s potential. God’s restraining and preservative power at work in humans and society is called common grace. All that of this is clearly displayed in Genesis 20 with Abraham and Abimelech.
