John 6:60–71, Heidelberg Catechism: Lord's Day 20
Many turned away from Jesus when His words became too strange, too hard to accept. But instead of softening the message, Jesus went deeper—revealing the mystery at the heart of true spiritual life: “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.”
This sermon explores how true and lasting life with God is not achieved through effort, tradition, or willpower, but by the gracious work of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit alone awakens dead hearts, gives faith, and unites us to Christ. And He does so through one means: the life-giving words of Christ.
If you long for deeper change, lasting joy, or renewed spiritual vitality, this message invites you to open your heart to the Spirit’s breath and receive life through the Word of Christ.
